Busan City Bulletin is Reborn as 'Busan is Good' (Busan is good)
Founded in 1977, City Administration Newsletter... Introducing Policies and Local Issues
Foreign Language Newspapers (English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese) Title Changes
The comprehensive municipal newsletter ‘Busan City Report’ is reborn as ‘Busan is good’.
Busan City will change the title of ‘Busan City Report’ to ‘Busan is good’ starting from the 1st, in line with the birth of the new city brand.
The title refers to the name of a book or newspaper.
Since its launch on January 21, 1977, Busan City Report has been delivering key municipal policies, local community issues, Busan’s culture, tourism, people, lifestyle information, and legislative news to the public in a rich and informative manner. It is published twice a month (on the 1st with 24 pages, and on the 16th with 16 pages), with 180,000 copies each issue, and subscription is free of charge. Subscriptions can be applied for via the Busan City Report website or by phone.
This title change comes 12 years after the previous title ‘Dynamic Busan’ was adopted in July 2011.
Along with the title change, the city added the new Busan city emblem to the left side of the title for consistency, and placed the 2030 Busan World Expo logo on the right side to express the passionate desire of Busan citizens to host the event. Additionally, a guide to the main articles was placed directly below the title for reader convenience.
The city will also attempt changes in the layout and content structure to match the newly updated title.
To timely, interestingly, and clearly inform about Busan’s current issues and resolve citizens’ curiosities, the city will strengthen on-site focused feature reports that faithfully convey municipal affairs. It will also expand the operation of Citizen’s Lounge, Citizen Reporters, and Citizen Participation sections to promote citizen engagement and consensus building.
Furthermore, efforts to activate citizen communication will be promoted. From June 5 to 16, a subscription application event will be held using the city’s official social networking services (SNS), along with other events such as ‘Find Busan City Report’.
In addition, the city will discover new distribution points including public institutions, banks, parks, and other multi-use facilities, while refurbishing and adding distribution stands at about 220 locations such as subway stations and administrative welfare centers. This will simultaneously improve citizen accessibility and promote the city brand.
Busan’s foreign language newspapers will also change their titles and designs starting from the 1st. The English newspaper adopts the slogan as its title, ‘Busan is good’.
The Japanese newspaper’s title is changed to ‘Dakara Busan (だから釜山)’, meaning ‘Therefore Busan’; the Chinese newspaper to ‘Meihao Busan (美好釜山)’, meaning ‘Good Busan’; and the Vietnamese newspaper to ‘Busan tuy?t v?i’, meaning ‘Busan is the best’.
To clearly convey the meaning of the new city slogan, the English newspaper places the emblem mark to the left of the title, while the Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese newspapers include a boxed slogan ‘Busan is good’ to the left of their titles. On the right side of the titles, QR codes linking to each foreign language newspaper’s website are inserted to enhance online accessibility.
