The People Power Party and the government held a practical party-government consultation meeting of the Education Committee at the National Assembly to discuss the 'AI Digital Textbook Promotion Plan.' The government plans to announce the AI digital textbook promotion plan early this month.
After the consultation meeting held on the 1st, the party and government stated, "We agreed on the necessity of introducing AI digital textbooks, a new type of textbook that analyzes students' learning activities and provides customized learning content."
AI digital textbooks are a new type of textbook that applies artificial intelligence technology tailored to the characteristics of each subject. Artificial intelligence acts like an assistant teacher, enabling personalized learning.
On the 1st, at the Education Issue Party-Government Council held at the National Assembly, Lee Tae-gyu, the ruling party secretary of the National Assembly Education Committee, and Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, among others, attended.

Before the introduction of AI digital textbooks in 2025, the party and government agreed to conduct training sessions to help teachers of English, Mathematics, and Information subjects understand digital textbooks. They agreed to complete training for all necessary teachers through this winter vacation and the summer and winter vacations of next year.
Lee Tae-gyu, the ruling party's secretary of the National Assembly Education Committee, said, "The AI technological revolution and development demand a major transformation in all fields, and education is especially at the center of this great transformation." He added, "The scientific and technological revolution and development required by the digital transformation demand comprehensive changes in learning methods, evaluation methods, and the role of teachers." He continued, "Although predictions are difficult at the moment, we must enter future education in line with the technological revolution and development," explaining, "Students, teachers, classrooms, and educational methods are inevitably facing a major transformation."
Meanwhile, they agreed to systematically protect and support victims of school violence. The government plans to establish a national-level specialized institution related to the healing and recovery of students affected by school violence and will announce the plan by the end of this month.

Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, said in his opening remarks, "The introduction of AI digital textbooks will greatly change classrooms in the Republic of Korea," adding, "I hope this will be a good starting point." Regarding the issue of school violence, he said, "The state needs to take responsibility and strengthen support for victimized students," and added, "We will continue to communicate and consult with the party and government to ensure that educational reform proceeds without setbacks."
