A Flawless Response System
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 1st that the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters conducted a tabletop exercise to prepare for extreme rainfall caused by a typhoon, with the participation of 25 people including Deputy Governor Lee Jong-ha, Director of Safety and Construction, Head of Safety General Division, and 13 team leaders from various practical teams.
This exercise simulated a typhoon situation as if it were real, activating the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters according to the action guidelines for flood and wind disaster response. The scenario involved simultaneous occurrences of casualties, house flooding, and damage and loss of various facilities.
Accordingly, the emergency response levels were raised according to the situation, and the missions and roles of the 13 practical teams at each stage were reviewed and supplemented through discussions, thereby strengthening the natural disaster response system and enhancing the staff's response capabilities.
In addition, the exercise focused on ▲preemptive measures ▲resident evacuation ▲protection of lives and property ▲rapid post-disaster recovery ▲early stabilization of residents' lives in response to extreme rainfall exceeding 100mm per hour.

Deputy Governor Lee said, “Although abnormal weather phenomena such as El Ni?o are occurring, I hope this exercise serves as a foundation to improve our ability to respond to unpredictable natural disasters,” adding, “We will continue to maintain vigilance this summer and do our best to prevent casualties and property damage among the residents.”
