On the 31st, Yongin City announced that Elantech Co., Ltd. has begun construction of a new factory in the Wanjang General Industrial Complex, located at San 22-1, Wanjang-ri, Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu.
Elantech Co., Ltd. is a mid-sized company specializing in the manufacturing of secondary batteries and electronic device components, operating 10 production subsidiaries across five countries including Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
To establish a stable production system, Elantech withdrew its factory from Suining, Jiangsu Province, China, and has been designated as a domestic returning company by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, which supports companies returning from overseas markets to settle domestically.
Elantech is the first domestic returning company to invest in Gyeonggi Province.
Elantech’s home energy storage system has been recognized for its technological excellence, having passed the U.S. battery safety standard (UL9540A).
Elantech will complete two newly constructed factories by the end of this year on a 24,830㎡ site in the Wanjang General Industrial Complex, with a total floor area of 41,992㎡, consisting of two basement floors and three above-ground floors. The factories will begin operation in the first half of next year to mass-produce medium and large battery packs.
Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, said, "Since taking office in July last year, I have repeatedly stated that if excellent companies come to Yongin, we will roll out the red carpet and welcome them. We are leading efforts to attract and nurture good companies." He added, "We welcome and congratulate Elantech’s return to Korea and the groundbreaking of its new factory in Yongin."
He continued, "The establishment of Elantech’s new factory here will greatly contribute to the economic development of Yongin, so the city will actively support it. I hope the factory construction proceeds smoothly without any safety accidents."
