Sejong Telecom "Striving to Expand Simplified Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance Nationwide"
Sejong Telecom (CEO Kim Hyung-jin, Lee Byung-guk) announced on the 31st that the "Communication Meeting among Innovative Institutions Centered on Medical Demonstration Research" was successfully held on the afternoon of the 26th at Busan National University Hospital to ensure the successful progress of the 8th project of the Blockchain Regulatory Sandbox, the "Blockchain-based Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance."
This meeting was organized to ensure the successful progress of the demonstration project through organic mutual cooperation after the "Blockchain-based Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance," the 8th project of the Busan Blockchain Special Zone supported by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and promoted by Busan City, was designated and approved at the "Regulatory Sandbox Committee" chaired by the Prime Minister on the 11th of last month.
The "Blockchain-based Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance" is a public service project that builds a platform enabling insurance claims for actual expenses simultaneously with medical treatment through a single patient consent on the app, without visiting medical institutions or submitting paper documents. Based on blockchain technology, it demonstrates the linkage of medical institution treatment data with the international standard (FHIR), original proof of claim documents, transparency in managing insurance claim histories, and the development of standardized claim forms for actual expense insurance, simplifying insurance claims and enhancing convenience through direct linkage with insurance companies. Sejong Telecom is conducting this project as a consortium with Busan National University Hospital and others.
The meeting, held to discuss the development plan for the Busan Blockchain Regulatory Sandbox project and the joint planning and promotion of ICT medical sector projects, was attended by about 20 people including Son Seong-eun, Financial Startup Policy Officer of Busan City, Kim Hyung-gyun, Director of Busan Technopark, Jung Seong-woon, Director of Busan National University Hospital, Lee Byung-guk, CEO of Sejong Telecom, and Vice President Park Hyo-jin.
The meeting began with a presentation by Wang Young-jin, Director of Sejong Telecom, introducing the "Blockchain-based Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance" project, followed by presentations from Busan City and Busan Technopark on the "Roles and Cooperation Plans of Busan Blockchain Project Institutions," and concluded with a Q&A session with attendees.
Wang Young-jin, Director of Sejong Telecom, who gave the first keynote presentation, introduced Sejong Telecom's blockchain technology expertise built through years of experience in the "Blockchain-based Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance" project introduction. He emphasized that the core of this project is to implement user-friendly services utilizing the international standard (FHIR) data of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's My Health Way platform. Sejong Telecom plans to concretize a stable operation model for one-click claim services using blockchain technology based on the My Health Way platform and direct linkage with medical institutions through this project.
Following this, Busan City and Busan Technopark presented on the "Roles and Cooperation Plans of Busan Blockchain Project Institutions," sharing opinions on the successful promotion of the project and development plans.
Busan National University Hospital emphasized at this meeting "the expectation for innovative medical services of this demonstration project and the hospital's strong willingness to cooperate."
