Japanese Government Issues Evacuation Order in Okinawa... Ministry of Defense Suggests Possible Ballistic Missile Threat
On the morning of the 31st, Japan's Ministry of Defense issued an emergency evacuation order for residents of Okinawa Prefecture, where a ballistic missile is suspected to have been launched by North Korea, due to the possibility of falling debris.
According to NHK, the Japanese government used the nationwide alert system (J-ALERT), which transmits emergency information to local governments via satellite, to announce on the morning of the same day that "a missile appears to have been launched from North Korea," urging people to take shelter inside buildings or underground.
The Ministry of Defense announced that what was launched from North Korea is likely a ballistic missile.
