Naju-si to Host the 1st Citizen Policy Academy on the 23rd of Next Month
Naju City in Jeollanam-do will hold the "1st Citizens' Policy Academy," consisting of a total of 4 sessions every Friday and Saturday from June 23 to July 1.
According to the city on the 30th, the Citizens' Policy Academy was planned to increase citizen participation in the 8th term of the elected administration and to cultivate the capacity as democratic citizens who can propose policy agendas and ordinances.
The policy divisions include four sections: "Education and Welfare," "Culture and Tourism," "Startups, Jobs, and Small Businesses," and "Agriculture and Rural Areas." A total of 30 academy students will be recruited by June 16.
The students will collaborate on policy development that citizens can experience firsthand through specialized policy lectures, mentoring, division discussions, policy design and ordinance planning via meetings with relevant departments, and proposal writing.
The academy will be held in the main conference room of the city hall in the following order: the 1st session on June 23 (6:45 PM to 10 PM), the 2nd session on June 24 (1 PM to 5 PM), the 3rd session on June 30 (7 PM to 10 PM), and the 4th session on July 1 (2 PM to 4 PM).
In particular, the 4th session will feature a "Policy Proposal Contest," where policies developed by each division will be presented directly.
Anyone aged 19 or older can apply for participation by visiting and registering on the website of the education provider, "Yeouido Academy."
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, "I hope that effective policies that the region’s future and citizens can feel will be discovered through academy students composed of various age groups and occupations. The proposed citizen policies will be actively reflected in the administration through departmental review to serve as a catalyst for participatory administration by citizens in the 8th term of the elected government."
