Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Conducts Plogging Campaign for Fire Prevention
Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced on the 29th that it conducted a plogging campaign, which involves walking while picking up cigarette butts.
Plogging is a volunteer activity promoted by many environmental organizations, defined as "jogging while simultaneously picking up trash."
The Seobu Fire Station also incorporated plogging into fire prevention efforts, aiming to spread a fire prevention culture focused on cigarette butts, a major cause of fires, and to protect the local environment by picking up cigarette butts that significantly impact the community during plogging.
The main initiatives included ▲conducting cigarette butt plogging mainly around religious temples and parks with high foot traffic ▲distributing and providing leaflets on cigarette butt fire prevention and safety guidelines to citizens ▲removing cigarette butts that damage the local natural environment and facilities such as fields and drainage areas.
