Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch (Manager Kim Dae-hong) announced on the 24th that it will host the 'Lotte Children’s Environmental Art Contest' event for the Gwangju region, the largest children’s art competition in Korea.
Celebrating its 41st year this year, the 'Lotte Children’s Environmental Art Contest' is the largest children’s art competition in Korea, first held in 1979. It was started in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Environmental Foundation to widely promote the importance of environmental conservation.
Held on-site for the first time in four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s art contest will take place on June 11 at Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch and the surrounding Suwan Lake Park area.
Applications can be submitted through the Lotte Department Store Mall website until the 31st. The registration fee is 6,000 KRW per person, with half of the fee, 3,000 KRW per registration, donated to the Environmental Foundation for environmental conservation.
A total of 437 children from 16 regions nationwide will receive awards, and the grand prize winner will be awarded a cash prize along with a commendation from the Minister of Environment.
Since this is the first art contest held in four years, various appreciation promotions, on-site events, and experiential performances have been prepared.
First, all participants will receive a specially made picnic kit (including a picnic mat and sun cap) created in collaboration with the environmentally active illustrator 'Noisin', along with Faber-Castell mini colored pencils and a 5,000 KRW Lotte mobile gift certificate. The mobile gift certificates can be used at Lotte Department Store, Lotte Outlet, and Lotte Mall from the 5th to the 30th of next month, and using them will automatically enter users into a prize draw for additional giveaways.
Stage performances will include family participation recreations such as treasure hunts and family talent contests hosted by a professional MC, as well as a balloon magic show and a children’s choir invited performance.
Experiential events include making lost child prevention name tags, pinwheels, and Yutnori (traditional Korean board game), along with traditional play experiences. Tall clowns will also circulate the event venue handing out magic balloons.
Additionally, on the day of the event, discount coupons for restaurants will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis through the Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch app, and customers who spend over 150,000 KRW will receive 5,000 L.Points.
Kim Dae-hong, manager of Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch, said, "I hope the Lotte Children’s Environmental Art Contest will raise greater interest in environmental conservation. As this is the first event in four years, I hope many children participate to easily and enjoyably develop environmental awareness and experience various events."
