On the morning of the 23rd, Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the '30th Yeongdeungpo District Mayor's Gateball Tournament' held at Anyangcheon Omokgyo Gateball Field to encourage the players.
Gateball, popular among senior citizens, is a ball game where players use a T-shaped stick to hit the ball through three gates in sequence within the playing field and then strike the goal pole.
The game has simple rules and is not physically demanding, making it a sport enjoyed by people of various age groups.
About 300 participants, including players, referees, and staff, attended the tournament. Mayor Choi awarded certificates of commendation to contributors to community sports and expressed gratitude for their efforts.
