Dong-Eui University Hosts 'Healthy 100 Years Harmony Festival' in Dong-gu, Busan
On the 20th, Dong-Eui University held the ‘2023 Academic Year Healthy Hundred Years, Harmony Festival’ event at the outdoor plaza of Dong-gu Culture Platform Citizen Square.
This event was hosted by the Dong-Eui University University Innovation Support Project Group and co-organized by the Regional Collaboration Center and Dong-gu Public Health Center. Eleven departments, including the Department of Korean Medicine, participated with their major-related and performance clubs, along with 13 project teams from Dong-gu Public Health Center, providing volunteer services to local residents.
In the volunteer activities based on each department’s major, the Department of Fire and Disaster Administration provided safety education for fire situations, the Department of Clinical Pathology offered cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar management, and the Department of Dental Hygiene conducted oral health care education. The Department of Radiological Science performed bone density measurements and thyroid ultrasound examinations, the Department of Physical Therapy provided electrical and low-frequency therapy, and the Department of Korean Medicine conducted traditional Korean medical treatments.
The '2023 Academic Year Healthy Centenarian, Harmony Festival' event is currently underway at the Dong-gu Cultural Platform Citizen Square outdoor plaza.
View original imageAdditionally, the Department of Human System Design Engineering offered smartphone usage guidance, the Department of Computer Software Engineering conducted voice phishing prevention education, and the Department of Leisure Sports ran home training sessions. The Department of International Tourism Management prepared traditional costume experiences from various countries, and the Department of Food Service Management made hwachae (Korean fruit punch) to provide as snacks to participating residents.
Dong-gu Public Health Center provided various health management services such as blood pressure and blood sugar measurement, chronic disease counseling, mental health, and dementia self-diagnosis. They also promoted health-related projects conducted by the health center, including smoking cessation and alcohol moderation, oral health, prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, healthy lifestyle practices, community-based rehabilitation, and organ and tissue donation.

Student Oh Seung-hee, who participated in the volunteer activities that day, said, “It was a time to communicate with local residents by utilizing my major knowledge, and I felt great pride from their words of thanks.” She added, “I will continue to actively participate in sharing activities to contribute to the healthy and happy lives of local residents.”
