Gochang-gun Signs Business Agreement for Exporting Agricultural Specialties to Southeast Asia

Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced that on the 22nd and 23rd, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for export cooperation with Malaysian food importer KMT (CEO Im Tae-o) and Singaporean company Goryeo Trading (CEO Yoon Deok-chang) to expand exports of Gochang agricultural specialties to Southeast Asia.

KMT Co., Ltd. (CEO Im Tae-o) is a mid-sized company that has been distributing and selling excellent Korean products through online and offline stores in Malaysia for 30 years. Through this agreement, exports of Gochang products such as bokbunja wine, seaweed, and instant frozen foods worth about $50,000 annually are expected to proceed.

Goryeo Trading Co., Ltd. (CEO Yoon Deok-chang), the largest Korean food distribution company in Singapore, operates eight directly managed marts. Through this export cooperation MOU, exports of bokbunja processed products and Gochang agricultural products worth about $50,000 annually are expected to proceed.

CEO Im Tae-o said, “Although we have handled Korean products for a long time, through this MOU, we learned that Gochang-gun produces clean and diverse agricultural specialties,” and added, “We will actively cooperate to expand exports of Gochang products to Malaysia.”

CEO Yoon Deok-chang said, “We are pleased to sign an export cooperation agreement with Gochang-gun, recognized by UNESCO,” and added, “We will strive to establish Gochang agricultural specialties as safe and reliable food products.”

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “We are pleased to establish a foothold for Gochang agricultural specialties to enter the Southeast Asian market with KMT Co., Ltd. and Goryeo Trading Co., Ltd.,” and stated, “We will work hard to ensure that healthy food products from Gochang can be sold more widely in the Southeast Asian market.”
