Imsil-gun, 'Kkotyanggwibi' in Full Bloom by the Riverside... Enticing Tourists

In Imsil-eup, Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, flower poppies are in full bloom along the riverside, attracting residents and tourists.

According to the county on the 22nd, flower poppies are blooming brightly along a 1.1 km section of the Imsil stream riverside, from Sujeonggyo Bridge to Imsilgyo Bridge, creating a splendid spectacle of red waves that captivate the eyes of passersby.

As part of the Imsil stream landscape improvement project last year and this year, the county sowed about 40 kg of flower poppies over a total area of 8,000㎡ along the 1.1 km section.

Flower poppies are a horticultural species that can be cultivated as they do not contain narcotic substances, and their scientific names also include Gaeyanggwibi and Umiincho.

Additionally, shrubs such as hydrangeas and annual and perennial herbaceous plants have been planted here together, emitting a harmonious charm alongside the red flower poppies.

Imsil stream, planted with red poppy flowers and various colorful herbaceous plants, has been established as a healing space beyond a simple walking trail, gaining love from visitors.

Every year, various herbaceous plants are planted here, and this year, due to abnormal weather, the blooming period has advanced, allowing early appreciation of the flower poppies’ beauty.

Yang Hyojeong (47, Jeonju), a tourist who visited Imsil on the weekend, said, “We came with my family because there was a drive-in theater at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park, and by chance, I saw the riverside poppy flowers, which were so beautiful that I took many pictures with my children. I heard that flowers bloom all year round in Imsil, and it’s really nice to be able to see flowers every time I come.”

The fully bloomed flower poppies are loved by residents and are expected to maintain their beauty until next month.

County Governor Shim Min said, “Please come to Imsil stream and enjoy the colorful and unique atmosphere of the flower path. We will continue to manage it sustainably to offer flowers of hope to residents and visitors who are weary from daily life.”
