Sand Art Meets Classic Fairy Tale... Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra's 'Sleeping Beauty' Family Concert
Jiseongho Conductor, Violin Concerto 'Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso'
The Ulsan City Symphony Orchestra will stage a classical fairy tale experienced through orchestral melodies and sand art.
In celebration of Family Month in May, the Ulsan City Symphony Orchestra announced on the 20th that it will hold a family concert titled "Sleeping Beauty" on the 26th at 8 p.m. at the Ulsan Culture & Arts Center Grand Theater.
At this performance, the orchestra's deputy conductor Park Yun-hwan will take the baton, and concertmaster Ji Seong-ho will perform as the violin soloist. Along with the symphony's melodies, the story of "Sleeping Beauty" will unfold through the fingertips of sand artist Lee Gil-sik.
The concert will open with Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol." This piece, composed of five short movements, captures Spanish folk songs, dances, and landscapes with clear and charming melodies, enchanting the audience with its vivid colors and lively energy.
Following this, the stage will feature the Ulsan City Symphony Orchestra's concertmaster Ji Seong-ho performing the "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso," composed and dedicated by French composer Saint-Sa?ns to the 19th-century Spanish violin virtuoso Sarasate.
Violinist Ji Seong-ho, who will appear as the soloist, graduated from Yonsei University College of Music and studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and Hamburg University of Music. He has served as a member of the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, guest concertmaster of the Korean Symphony and Prime Philharmonic, and concertmaster of the Gyeonggi Provincial Orchestra. He is currently active as the concertmaster of the Ulsan City Symphony Orchestra.
The final stage will feature Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty Suite," one of the three great classical ballets and well-known as a fairy tale. This will be enhanced visually by sand art completed with light and sand, creating an experience like a classical fairy tale.
