Busan City and Gaonnuri (CEO Kim Ki-hoon) will hold the "2023 Busan City Child Participation Organization Launch Ceremony" at 10 a.m. on the 20th in the large conference room on the first floor of City Hall.
The Child Participation Organization refers to the Child Rights Protection Group and the Child and Youth Participatory Budget Activity Group that the city has been operating annually since 2019.
It was established to guarantee children's rights, allow children to freely discuss child policies as rights holders, and actively inform the local community and citizens about children's rights.
From March to April, the city and Gaonnuri recruited members of the Child Participation Organization from elementary, middle, and high school students residing in Busan, selecting a total of 67 children.
Additionally, to protect and promote children's rights, the city appointed five child rights experts from various fields such as lawyers, doctors, and professors as Child Rights Guardians.
This launch ceremony is the first official event marking the start of the Child Participation Organization and Child Rights Guardians formed this year.
The ceremony will be attended by Child Participation Organization members, university students and adult volunteers participating as counseling supporters (mentoring supporters), Child Rights Guardians, and related officials. The program will proceed in the following order: ▲Child Rights Education and Project Explanation ▲Presentation of Appointment Certificates ▲Introduction of the Role of Child Rights Guardians (Professor Kim Yoon-hee, Silla University) ▲Oath by Child Representatives ▲Team Bonding Activities (Team Building Recreation) ▲Orientation.
After the launch ceremony, the members of the Child Participation Organization will carry out various activities to guarantee and promote children's rights according to their respective programs until November.
First, the Child and Youth Participatory Budget Activity Group will discover resident proposal projects and write proposals through budget school education and small group activities.
In November, after presenting the policy proposals developed with the members, the final refined proposals will be submitted to the relevant departments, and they plan to participate in resident proposal contests and receive direct evaluations on the outcomes of their activities.
The Child Rights Protection Group will conduct monthly surveys and monitoring activities on the status of children's rights. They will also produce materials such as a children's rights explanation booklet through discussions, creating results that contribute to the promotion of children's rights.
Kim Ki-hoon, CEO of Gaonnuri, said, "Through the activities of the Child Participation Organization, I hope a social atmosphere where children are confidently recognized as rights holders spreads, creating a city where children can live better."
