Hepatitis A Virus Found in Chinese Oysters... MFDS Announces "Recall Measures"
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 19th that it will suspend sales and recall the products 'Salted Oysters' imported and sold by Kosamuyeok, and 'Fermented Oysters' manufactured and sold by Todam Food using these as raw materials, after detecting the hepatitis A virus gene in them. When foods containing the hepatitis A virus are consumed, the virus can pass through the intestines, enter the bloodstream, and multiply inside liver cells, causing inflammation.

View original imageThe recall targets are the Salted Oysters with a packaging date marked as '2020.10.20.' and the Fermented Oysters with a manufacturing date marked as '2023.04.17.' The Salted Oysters were produced by Xianglong Development in Dandong, China, and 18,860 kg have been imported into Korea. The Fermented Oysters made from these oysters amount to a total of 530 kg.
