Chairman Lee Byung-yoon of the Special Committee strongly urges Seoul Transportation Corporation to ensure citizen safety, improve transportation convenience, and achieve high-level management efficiency!
The Seoul Metropolitan Council Special Committee on Personnel Hearing for the President Candidate of Seoul Transportation Corporation (Chairman Lee Byung-yoon, People Power Party, Dongdaemun 1) completed a thorough verification of candidate Baek Ho’s management capabilities, policy execution abilities, and future vision for ensuring citizen safety and operation of Seoul Transportation Corporation through the personnel hearing held on the 17th, and agreed to appoint him as President of Seoul Transportation Corporation.
Candidate Baek Ho for President of Seoul Transportation Corporation has served as a Seoul city administrative official for 27 years since 1996, holding positions such as Transportation Planning Officer, Director of Lifelong Education Bureau, Head of Waterworks Business Headquarters, and Director of Urban Transportation Office, contributing to the enhancement of citizen welfare based on his extensive administrative experience.
In particular, he is expected to play a bridging role between Seoul Transportation Corporation and the Seoul Metropolitan Government when close consultation is needed on current issues due to his high understanding of transportation corporation affairs.
The Special Committee conducted a thorough verification of Baek Ho’s management and policy execution capabilities through the personnel hearing, objectively and sharply assessing whether he is a suitable talent to improve the operational efficiency of Seoul Transportation Corporation, a representative public enterprise of Seoul, and to enhance citizen safety and transportation convenience.
Especially, following the recovery of daily life from the COVID-19 crisis, the committee deeply discussed policy directions, willingness to improve, and various current issues of Seoul Transportation Corporation, including subway congestion due to increased public transportation demand, facility aging, safety management, subway fare increases, and chronic operational deficits.
After the hearing, the Special Committee adopted the personnel hearing report considering that the candidate, having worked as Seoul’s Transportation Planning Officer and Director of Urban Transportation Office, is an expert in transportation policy including public transportation in Seoul, and has direct experience leading and supervising policy projects linked to Seoul Transportation Corporation on the front lines, which is expected to strengthen the organizational capacity and management improvement of Seoul Transportation Corporation and contribute to its development as an administrative expert.
The verified contents through the personnel hearing will be compiled into a personnel hearing report according to the ‘Agreement on Conducting Personnel Hearings between Seoul Metropolitan Council and Seoul Metropolitan Government’ and will be sent by May 18, within 10 days (excluding holidays) from the date of receipt of the personnel hearing request.
