Toss Bank's 'Gulbi Savings' Surpasses 300,000 Accounts
One Month After Launch, Customer Popularity
Sign Up from 1 Won... Up to 5% Annual Maximum
Event Also for First-Time Transaction Customers
Toss Bank announced on the 18th that its 'Gulbi Savings' account surpassed 300,000 accounts in just over a month since its launch. This means an average of 10,000 people signed up for the Gulbi Savings daily.
Launched on the 12th of last month, the Gulbi Savings offers an interest rate benefit of up to 5.0% per annum (a basic interest rate of 2.0% plus a preferential rate of 3.0%) with a 6-month subscription period. The preferential rate is automatically applied if the account is maintained without early termination until the 6-month maturity. Customers can freely save any amount above 1 won (up to 300,000 won per month) without any limit on the number of deposits. The product screen is designed so that each time a customer deposits into the savings account, a gulbi (dried yellow croaker) hanging from the ceiling gradually moves down to a dining table on the floor.
Looking at subscribers by age group, those in their 40s accounted for the largest share at 26.0%, followed by those in their 20s (24.5%), 30s (23.2%), 50s and above (20.6%), and teenagers aged 17 and older (5.7%). There was even a customer who made more than 10 deposits per day, totaling 338 deposits in one month. Toss Bank analyzed that the simple subscription conditions and the added fun elements attracted strong customer response.
An event is also being held until the 22nd, offering convenience store mobile vouchers to Toss Bank’s first-time customers. Customers who open a 'Toss Bank Account,' a demand deposit account, for the first time and subscribe to the Gulbi Savings within 24 hours will be automatically entered into the event.
