Kocca Hosts 'Korea-Japan Content Business Forum' in Tokyo
Exploring Development and Promotion Strategies for Content Industries Between the Two Countries
The Korea Creative Content Agency held the "Korea-Japan Content Business Forum" on the 17th at the Korean Cultural Center in Tokyo, Japan Digital Content Association. They explored ways to develop and promote the content industries between the two countries, including the sustainable growth potential of K-manhwa.
Domestic webtoon platforms such as Kakao Piccoma and Line Manga have recently achieved remarkable growth in Japan. Future exchanges and collaborations are expected to become more active. This is due to the 20th anniversary of the Korean Wave, which began when Japan's NHK broadcast the drama "Winter Sonata," as well as the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Korean and Japanese heads of state this year.
The flow of lectures on the day was also positive. Cho Hyun-rae, president of the Korea Creative Content Agency, listed various measures to spread the appeal of K-content, while Seitaro Fujita, counselor at Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, introduced the current status of Japan's content industry policies and suggested an ideal direction. Panelists including Hwang Nam-yong, CEO of Jaedam Media, Jung Jong-wook, vice president of Daon Creative, Kazuma Miki, CEO of Straight Edge, and Mikiya Shibatsuji, CEO of Fumoa, reviewed the differences in the Korea-Japan webtoon and digital comics markets and media mix cases, providing insights into the potential for market expansion.
