Gyeonggi Office of Education Launches Pilot Project to Improve Water Quality of Plumbing in 25 Schools
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is launching a school water pipe quality improvement project, the first of its kind among education offices nationwide, to ensure the safety of drinking water in schools.
On the 18th, the Office announced that it will carry out various projects to supply clean water, including cleaning school water pipes, targeting 25 schools in the province from June to August.
The cleaning of school water pipes involves injecting water or air into the pipes without causing damage, in accordance with the Enforcement Rules of the Water Supply Act, to remove foreign substances and microbial films inside the pipes.
The Office selects target schools by investigating basic data on each school's water pipes and assessing the types and aging conditions of the pipes.
After analyzing the pilot project and collecting feedback through satisfaction surveys, the Office plans to expand the project to 250 schools.
Park Manyoung, head of the School Meal Health Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "By proactively cleaning school water pipes, we will supply safer and cleaner drinking water," adding, "This will serve as a good example of supporting the field to provide a healthy and safe educational environment."
