4by4, LG Smart TV Content Store 'Keycut Play' Installed
Samsung Smart TV App Store Integration Followed by LG Content Store
4K and Above LG Smart TV Users Can Enjoy Ultra HD Video
Ultra-high-definition drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal, which was only available on Samsung Smart TVs, can now also be viewed on LG TVs.
Visual tech solution company ForByFor announced on the 18th that it has installed its own application ‘KEYCUT Play,’ which allows viewing of ultra-high-definition videos, in the LG Smart TV content store. The KEYCUT Play app can be downloaded by anyone from the ‘Apps’ tab on LG Smart TVs released since 2019 with 4K resolution or higher.
Since September last year, ForByFor has pre-installed the KEYCUT Play app on all Samsung Smart TVs that support 4K or higher resolution. Starting this month, the company has also pre-installed its app in the LG Smart TV content store. With the domestic smart TV penetration rate exceeding 90% and LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics holding overwhelming market shares in the domestic TV market, most TV viewing households in Korea will be able to access KEYCUT Play.
The app comes pre-loaded with the drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal,’ which has been enhanced to ultra-high-definition quality. Anyone who downloads the app can watch the ultra-high-definition version of Sungkyunkwan Scandal. The KEYCUT Play app is a beta service created to allow many people to experience the company’s AI-based image enhancement technology. Currently, only one drama is available, but the company is considering adding various content in the future based on user feedback.
ForByFor CEO Yoon Junho said, "As of early this year, the number of LG Channel subscribers reached about 48 million, and the cumulative viewing time of Samsung TV Plus has reached 3 billion hours," adding, "Free video content services provided by TV manufacturers are achieving visible results worldwide." He continued, "As the time spent consuming video content on TVs and the number of users increase, consumer demand for ultra-high-definition videos will naturally grow."
