This visit to the National Assembly was arranged to explain the necessity of the early establishment of the Aerospace Agency and to request bipartisan cooperation for the passage of the special law.
Mayor Park held consecutive meetings with lawmakers including Cho Hae-jin, Kim Young-sik, Yoon Doo-hyun, Seo Il-jun, Heo Eun-ah, Baek Jong-heon, and Yoon Jae-ok from the People Power Party, as well as Min Byung-duk and Lee Byung-hoon from the Democratic Party of Korea, seeking their cooperation for the passage of the special law within the first half of the year.
He also met with aides to Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho, Minister of Unification Kwon Young-se, and lawmaker Kim Doo-kwan to urge interest in the establishment of the Aerospace Agency in Sacheon.
Mayor Park attended the ‘National Aerospace Governance Strengthening Strategy Seminar’ held in the main conference room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building, continuing to explore the direction the Aerospace Agency should take.
The seminar was co-hosted by lawmakers Ha Young-je, Lee Heon-seung, and Yoon Young-seok, and featured discussions on the national space economy, aerospace control tower, and aerospace complex city.
Mayor Park stated, “Amid fierce global competition for space, there is a growing sense of crisis that the establishment of a dedicated space organization representing the Republic of Korea could be derailed due to certain vested interests,” adding, “A grand decision at the National Assembly level is necessary.”
