‘Top Rookie’ Bang Shin-sil defeated defending champion Hong Jeong-min.
On the 17th, Bang Shin-sil edged out Hong Jeong-min by 1 hole in the first match of the group stage at the Doosan Match Play Championship (total prize money 900 million won) held at Radena Golf Club in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province (par 72, 6,350 yards) on the KLPGA Tour. Bang struggled, trailing by 2 holes until the 13th hole, but made birdies on the 14th and 16th holes to even the match, and secured a thrilling come-from-behind victory with a birdie on the final 18th hole (par 5).
Bang Sin-sil is teeing off at the 2nd hole of the first round of the group stage in the Doosan Match Play Championship.

Bang Shin-sil is a rookie who has competed in three tournaments this year, finishing tied for 3rd and tied for 4th. She said, "I am really happy to have seized the opportunity on the last hole to win," and vowed, "Based on today’s victory, I will try to advance to the finals."
