President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 17th, "Korea and Canada are long-standing allies and blood allies," adding, "The traditional alliance between the two countries is now advancing into a future-oriented cooperative relationship."
On the same day, President Yoon held an expanded summit meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Yongsan Presidential Office and said, "Last year in Ottawa, our two leaders declared the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership," promising to expand cooperation in a wide range of fields including the economy and security.

President Yoon emphasized, "Korea and Canada are long-standing allies and blood allies," and introduced, "Our people will never forget that during the Korean War in 1950, more than 27,000 Canadian youths fought alongside to protect the freedom of the Republic of Korea." He also said, "The Battle of Gapyeong, which the Canadian forces were responsible for at the time, was a tremendous achievement in defending Seoul against communist invasion," and added, "I hope that this opportunity of the Prime Minister's visit to Korea will serve as a chance to remind our people once again that Korea and Canada are blood allies who shed blood together, and that we reflect on and never forget this."
