The Changwon Mayor’s Scholarship Foundation held a scholarship certificate awarding ceremony on the afternoon of the 16th at the Jinhae District Office’s main conference room, attended by 203 student representatives selected as outstanding local scholarship recipients for 2023 and the foundation’s executives.

View original imageThis year’s scholarship selection process received applications from 668 students following the announcement of the scholarship selection plan in March. After an internal review, 418 students were finally selected, and a total of 513.5 million KRW was awarded in scholarships.
By category, the ‘High School Scholarship’ was awarded to 197 exemplary students currently enrolled in high schools in the Changwon area, each receiving 500,000 KRW. University scholarships were distributed as follows: 87 students received 2 million KRW each as Study Scholarships, 116 students with excellent academic records at domestic universities received 2 million KRW each, and 18 students received 500,000 KRW each as Dream Scholarship funds for out-of-school youth.
The Changwon Mayor’s Scholarship Foundation was established in 2008 as the Jinhae Scholarship Foundation and has been operating through voluntary donations and city contributions since the integration. It awards scholarships to about 400 students annually, contributing to the spread of a virtuous cycle of sharing culture.
Chairperson Kim Eulsun stated, “To ensure that outstanding talents in the Changwon area do not give up their dreams due to economic reasons, we newly established the ‘Dream Scholarship’ for out-of-school youth this year. The Changwon Mayor’s Scholarship Foundation will continue to strive to play a pivotal role in strengthening regional competitiveness through educational development by promoting various talent development projects.”
