"Enjoyed Tanning in Teens"... Australian Woman's Regret Over Skin Cancer
Revealing the Treatment Process of Skin Cancer
"You Must Protect Your Skin Yourself"
A woman from Australia who enjoyed tanning in her youth has been diagnosed with three types of skin cancer and is currently battling the disease. She has revealed her painful treatment process and urged everyone to thoroughly protect their skin.
The New York Post reported on June 13 (local time) about 48-year-old Australian woman Melissa Lewis, who is fighting skin cancer. After undergoing treatment, Lewis shared a photo of her face, stating, "This is what a person with skin cancer looks like."

Lewis suffers from three types of skin cancer: melanoma, which causes the skin to darken progressively; Bowen's disease, an early form of squamous cell carcinoma; and basal cell carcinoma, where cells in the lowest layer of the epidermis mutate into malignant tumors.
In addition to skin cancer, she also has a skin condition called "skin dysplasia," characterized by abnormal increases in moles and pimples due to changes in skin tissue and bodily fluids. In the photos released to the media, Lewis's facial skin appears reddened with blister marks and areas where the skin has peeled off.
Since 2009, Lewis has been receiving laser treatment. This therapy involves injecting photosensitive substances into the skin and then using lasers to destroy cancerous tumors. The treatment causes swelling around the eyes, making it difficult to open them properly, and requires covering the eyes and nose area with cloth to wear glasses.
Lewis said she enjoyed tanning under the sun during her teens and twenties, often spending several hours at a time exposed to sunlight. She told the media, "If I could meet my past self, I would say, 'While tanning now may feel enjoyable, you will definitely pay the price in the future.'"
