'Bus Driver in Suwon School Zone Fatal Accident to Be Transferred to Prosecutors for Detention Tomorrow'
The bus driver involved in the 'school zone fatal accident' that occurred in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, will be handed over to the prosecution.
On the afternoon of the 14th, the funeral procession for Jo Eun-gyeol, who died after being hit by a bus in a school zone on the 10th, was held at Ajou University Hospital funeral hall in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do.

On the 16th, Suwon Western Police Station announced that they plan to send Mr. A, a bus driver in his 50s, to the prosecution under custody on the 17th on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Mr. A is accused of hitting and killing Jo Eun-gyeol (8), who was crossing the crosswalk, while making a right turn with a city bus in a school zone in Homaesil-dong, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City, around 12:30 p.m. on the 10th.
It is reported that Mr. A caused the accident by making a right turn against the signal at an intersection equipped with a right-turn traffic light. The police confirmed that at the time of the accident, the right-turn traffic light was red, while the pedestrian signal was green.

During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that "he tried to pass through the accident area quickly and failed to check the right-turn signal in time." The police applied the provisions of the so-called 'Min-sik Act,' a special law, and requested and obtained an arrest warrant.
