Lee Ju-ho: "I will support teachers to focus solely on teaching"
Attendance at the 42nd Teachers' Day Ceremony
Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, expressed his commitment on Teachers' Day, stating, "We will actively support teachers so that they can fully devote themselves to teaching."
On the 15th, at the 42nd Teachers' Day ceremony held at The-K Hotel in Seocho-gu, Seoul, Deputy Prime Minister Lee said, "At this very moment, I extend my deep respect and gratitude to all teachers who are diligently working in educational sites across the country."

On this Teachers' Day, 238 teachers who have made contributions in educational innovation, life guidance, and talent development received government awards, and 2,962 received ministerial citations.
About 400 people, including representative awardees and their accompanying families, teacher organizations, and education officials, attended the ceremony.
Deputy Prime Minister Lee said, "Despite difficult circumstances, we have invested in people and nurtured talent, achieving remarkable growth today. I believe this was possible because of the countless teachers who dedicated themselves to education with a sense of mission."
He also called for changes in teachers' roles in line with the digital education transformation.
He emphasized, "The expertise required of teachers is becoming increasingly sophisticated, not only in cultivating and delivering knowledge but also in teaching and assessment skills using edutech, and in high-touch capabilities to communicate with students and support their growth."
He added, "Future education should focus on fostering digital literacy so that future generations can live in an era of deepening digitalization, and on developing the ability to solve problems by applying knowledge."

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister Lee promised, "We will strive to raise the value of education throughout our society and to establish a culture that respects teachers," and said, "I ask for the continued interest and cooperation of the 730,000 education family members so that we can enhance our society's growth potential and competitiveness based on freedom and creativity."
