14 Arrested Including Thai Mastermind Selling Synthetic Drug 'Yaba'
Jeonnam Police Fully Committed to Cracking Down on Foreign Drug Offenders
The Drug Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 15th that they arrested and detained 14 illegal Thai residents who sold the synthetic drug 'Yaba' in the Jeonnam, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk areas on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
The main distributor, Mr. A, was found to have contacted Mr. B, residing in Thailand, via SNS since February to purchase 'Yaba'.
It was confirmed that Mr. B supplied the drugs using a so-called "throwing" method, where he would inform the hiding place once the payment was deposited.
Mr. A received 10,000 tablets of Yaba and sold them to seven intermediaries located in Jeonnam, Gwangju, and Jeonbuk.
This drug was supplied to and used by Thai workers employed in agricultural and fishing villages and factories in the Honam region.
During the arrest, the Jeonnam police seized a total of 1,198 Yaba tablets, 1.4g of methamphetamine, and 14 drug paraphernalia items from the drug offenders.
