'Gaogal 3' Tops Weekend Box Office for 2 Consecutive Weeks... 'Mario' Surpasses 2 Million Viewers

The Marvel movie "Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3" (hereafter "Gaogal 3") maintained its top position at the weekend box office for the second consecutive week.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system, "Gaogal 3" attracted 711,847 viewers over the three-day weekend (12th?14th), securing the number one spot at the box office. Since its release on the 3rd, it has recorded a cumulative audience of 2,725,938.
"Gaogal 3" surpassed 1 million cumulative viewers on the 11th, just nine days after its release, and continued its strong performance through the weekend.
The film depicts the story of Peter Quill, who, grieving the loss of Gamora, joins forces once again with the Guardians team to protect the galaxy and his comrades from danger, embarking on a mission that could be their last if they fail.
In second place was the animated film "Super Mario Brothers," which drew 198,361 viewers. Released on the 26th of last month, the movie has accumulated 2,062,692 viewers.
The animated film "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Animal Summoning Ninja Belly Button Defense Squad" attracted 118,401 viewers, ranking third.
"Dream," starring Park Seo-joon and IU (directed by Lee Byung-heon), drew 61,181 viewers to place fourth, while the documentary about former President Moon Jae-in, "Moon Jae-in Imnida," recorded around 48,000 viewers, ranking fifth.
In sixth place was "Suzume's Locking Up," seventh was "John Wick 4," and eighth was "The First Slam Dunk." The film "Long-D," starring Jang Dong-yoon and Park Yoo-na, released on the 10th, entered the top ten at tenth place.
