In particular, the combination of theory with immediate field practice was praised as effective and professional training.
First, on the 4th at the Busan City Seoul Headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, photo education was provided for members originally from Busan. The lecture was conducted by photographer Hyunjeong Ahn, CEO of Ian Picture Ian Sympathy Snap, who appeared on MBC’s Morning Today segment ‘How to Take Great Smartphone Photos.’
Photographer Hyunjeong Ahn gave an enthusiastic lecture using the smartphone, the most commonly used device in daily life, explaining camera composition and directing techniques, detailed usage methods, and functions. After the theory class, participants went outdoors to nearby Yeouido Park and The Hyundai for practical exercises and field training, receiving great responses from attendees.
On the 12th, training was held at the ‘Hanseong 1918 Busan Living Culture Center’ located in Busan’s original downtown area for members residing in Busan. This session was further energized by the attendance of social network service (SNS) managers from 16 districts and counties, as well as Busan City Hall employees who wished to audit the class. To accommodate the large number of participants, the lecture was systematically organized into three sessions.
The first lecture was led by Jinhee Lim, head of Busan City’s Social Broadcasting Team and a broadcasting writer with 25 years of experience. Team Leader Lim passionately contributed to strengthening trainees’ skills by personally preparing teaching materials and solving pre-assigned tasks together during class.
Additionally, the lecture included viewing planned videos from Busan City’s official YouTube channel, ‘BusanTube,’ providing an engaging experience for the new media members.
The second lecture was delivered by an active broadcasting producer (PD), who vividly shared directing and editing techniques as well as efficient production processes. The final third lecture involved professional photographers and took place in the original downtown area rich with modern history, where participants learned video and photo shooting methods while exploring alleyways firsthand.
This ‘Members Day’ successfully concluded with enthusiastic participation and interest from new media members by enhancing understanding through direct observation, listening, learning, and enjoyment of video and photo content production, while also improving reporting capabilities through practical, hands-on training that members can directly apply.
Ha Seungmin, Busan City’s New Media Officer who attended the Members Day, emphasized, “New Media Members play an important ‘bridge’ role connecting Busan City and its 3.3 million citizens,” adding, “As they bear the heavy responsibility of delivering diverse information about Busan to the public, I hope they take pride and confidence in their reporting activities and article writing.”
