The 8th Gumi Saemaeul Cup Invitational Jokgu Tournament Held ... Over 500 Participants from 60 Teams
On the 14th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk will hold the "8th Gumi Saemaeul Cup Invitational Jokgu Tournament" at Gupo Sports Park, hosted by the Gumi City Sports Council and organized by the Gumi City Jokgu Association.
The tournament will feature a total of 60 teams and about 500 jokgu enthusiasts participating, divided into four divisions: Invitational General, Gyeongbuk 2nd-3rd Division, and Invitational 40s Division. The competition will be conducted through preliminary league matches and final knockout rounds by division.
The tournament, which began with players' oaths pledging fair play based on sportsmanship, promises to offer various attractions and enjoyment through thrilling matches alternating between offense and defense, as well as the high-level skills demonstrated by the players.
In this tournament, which attracted many skilled jokgu players, awards will be given to the top three teams (1st to 3rd place) after fierce competition, as well as to outstanding coaches, players, and referees in each division.

Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, "Jokgu has moved beyond the perception of being a sport for people in their 40s and 50s and has now established itself as a sport enjoyed by various groups regardless of gender or age." He added, "Since jokgu was adopted as a demonstration sport starting from last year's National Sports Festival, I hope its official inclusion will contribute to the expansion and revitalization of jokgu."
