Jeongeup-si Holds the 2nd Horticultural Industry Development Council Meeting

Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 12th that it held the 2nd Integrated Marketing Council for Horticultural Industry Development in 2023 at the Jeongeup Sanji Distribution Center (APC) on the 11th.

This Horticultural Industry Development Council was attended by the heads of six regional agricultural cooperatives, as well as the presidents of joint shipping associations for strategic and cultivated items such as watermelon, zucchini, cherry tomato, strawberry, cucumber, pear, and ginger, Lee Jeong-jin, CEO of Jeongeup Danpungmiin Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, and Song Chun-ho, professor of Food Distribution at Jeonbuk National University.

The meeting began with a report on the progress of the 2023 Integrated Marketing Activation Support Project at the Jeongeup Sanji Distribution Center (APC) by CEO Lee Jeong-jin, followed by an explanation regarding the transition to an integrated production and distribution organization.

Agenda items included deliberation on the amendment of Jeongeup City's Horticultural Industry Development Plan for 2023?2027, and attendees freely shared various opinions in an open atmosphere on ways to revitalize the operation of agricultural product distribution centers.

As a result of the council's agenda deliberation, it was agreed to invest approximately 1 billion KRW in the cultivation item ginger through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' field crop joint management body promotion support project.

Jeon Jeong-gi, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “Jeongeup's horticultural products should aim to secure market bargaining power through better organization and specialization than at present, and continuously respond to changes in the distribution environment.”
