Jeju Coast Guard Office Dispatches 20 Police Officers to Halla Hospital for Clinical Practice
The Jeju Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim In-chang) announced on the 11th that, starting from the 10th, it will dispatch 20 police officers from the Jeju Coast Guard to Jeju Halla Hospital, the Jeju Regional Trauma Center, for clinical training over approximately two months to respond swiftly within the golden time in case of emergency patients at sea.
This clinical training was promoted as a measure to improve on-site emergency treatment capabilities at sea by strengthening emergency treatment skills through not only individual efforts but also theoretical education and indirect practice using mannequins.

Also, although emergency treatment is currently provided remotely through the emergency medical system on patrol vessels with diagnoses from specialized medical staff at Halla Hospital, a total of 408 emergency patients have been transported from the Jeju sea over the past three years, and since patients continue to occur, this program was prepared to professionally enhance emergency treatment capabilities and acquire the best medical information.
The Jeju Coast Guard expects that this clinical training, which connects theory and practice conducted at Halla Hospital, will form exchanges with medical staff and strengthen the emergency patient mission capabilities of the Coast Guard at sea, resulting in significant improvements in the emergency medical system.
Furthermore, in preparation for the occurrence of multiple and severe emergency patients at sea in the future, it was decided to discuss a plan for medical staff to board Coast Guard patrol vessels or aircraft to be directly deployed to actual sites.
A Jeju Coast Guard official stated, “We will strive for the development of the maritime emergency medical system through continuous cooperation and mutual education and training exchanges with Jeju Halla Hospital, the Jeju Regional Trauma Center.”
