"Sixth Mass Extinction Within 100 Years Approaching"... Ban Ki-moon Gives Climate Crisis Lecture at Keimyung University
Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited Keimyung University to communicate with students and engage in discussions about global climate change.
On the 10th at Keimyung University Seongseo Campus, former Secretary-General Ban gave a special lecture titled "ESG Management in the Era of Global Climate Change Crisis and the Role of Universities." The lecture was held at the request of Keimyung University, which has introduced and is practicing ESG management.

View original imageAt the special lecture attended by about 500 Keimyung University students, Ban Ki-moon recalled that the three major policies he promoted during his tenure as UN Secretary-General were the "Paris Climate Agreement," "Sustainable Development Goals," and "Women's Rights."
"Within 100 years, the era of the sixth mass extinction will come," he said, emphasizing, "The climate crisis is the greatest challenge humanity faces today, and governments, companies, and citizens must all respond together through carbon neutrality, RE100, ESG management, and more."
He added, "Education shapes individuals, builds nations, and ultimately creates the world," and delivered the message, "Let us think about what we can do for others and cultivate a willingness to work as global citizens."
Ban Ki-moon served as the 8th UN Secretary-General for a 10-year term from 2007 to 2016. Since 2019, he has chaired the National Climate and Environment Council, dedicating efforts to solving climate change and environmental issues based on cooperation with neighboring countries. As chairman of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future, he also works to address global conflicts, disasters, hunger, and disease.
Since 2022, Keimyung University has introduced ESG management to contribute to the local community and sustainable development, setting the goal of "Keimyung that brings light to the Earth, humanity, and the region through the practice of clean energy saving," and plans to actively implement Keimyung ESG management.
