Prosecutors Locate Voice Phishing Victims and Return Lost Funds
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office Trial Division (Chief Prosecutor Jo Young-hee) announced on the 10th that it discovered additional crimes committed by the defendant in a voice phishing case and returned 15.37 million won in damages to the victim.
Previously, the prosecution stated that the police were unable to identify the victim of the 15.37 million won seized from the defendant during the investigation of the voice phishing crime.
After the trial began, the trial prosecutor requested the police to conduct supplementary investigations to specify the source of the cash and identify the victim. The police reportedly distributed photos of accomplices nationwide on March 31, leading to the identification of the victim.
