60-Year-Old Dentist Molests Knees of 19 Female High School Students During Oral Exams
Dentist A Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison with 3 Years Probation
Court Considers Admission of Charges and Settlement
A dentist in his 60s who molested 19 high school girls during an oral examination at a high school was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On the 10th, the 1st Criminal Division of the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court (Chief Judge Jeon Gyeong-ho) sentenced dentist A (67), who was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Offenses, to two years in prison with a three-year suspension, according to multiple domestic media reports.
The Daejeon District Court also ordered A to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.
Earlier, A was accused of forcibly molesting 19 female students, including touching their knees, while conducting oral examinations at a high school last year and was brought to trial.
A denied the charges, claiming he had no memory of unnecessary physical contact.
It is also known that he reached settlements with 14 of the 19 victims and made a deposit with the court for the remaining five, seeking leniency.
A deposit is made when a suspect in an assault or injury case cannot provide the compensation requested by the victim and no settlement is reached; it serves as a gesture of goodwill by the suspect to seek lighter punishment.

The court stated the sentencing rationale, saying, "Considering the number and circumstances of the offenses and the sexual humiliation the students likely felt, the nature of the crime is serious," but also noted, "We took into account the late admission of guilt and settlements, as well as the fact that the degree of molestation was not severe."
