UNIST Professors Kim Hwang and Jung Dooyoung Team Win 'iF Design Award'
Professor Kim Hwang from the Department of Design and Professor Jeong Dooyoung from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNIST received two main awards at the German ‘iF Design Award 2023,’ one of the world’s top three design awards.
Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) announced on the 10th that the team of Professors Kim Hwang and Jeong Dooyoung won the iF Design Award 2023 with the worker health management service ‘Myoontun Mamtoon’ (Myle), and Professor Kim Hwang’s team independently submitted the new concept travel platform ‘Trillogue’ (Trillogue), which also received an award.
Myoontun Mamtoon is a digital health management application for industrial workers.
Through a mobile app, it implements a four-level traffic light system to indicate the risk levels of chronic diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, and mental health for workers and health managers, and has built a web-based system that allows an overview of workers’ health at a glance.
Furthermore, based on wearable devices, it can monitor users’ health in daily life, including heart rate, blood pressure, and blood sugar.
Trillogue is a digital service platform that helps users create and discover travel routes reflecting their unique personalities and matches travelers with similar interests.
With this app, users can introduce their travel routes and receive a mind map that helps discover new travel spaces by understanding the preferences and interests of people planning trips.
At this year’s iF Design Award, both projects received high evaluations from the judging panel for providing original solutions that go beyond conventional healthcare and travel services.
Graduate students Oh Hyejin, Park Jejun, Kang Yungu, and researcher Lee Jinbaek, who participated in the development of Myoontun Mamtoon, said, “Having spent over two years designing and refining this project, we hope that the care and wishes of medical staff for workers’ health are well conveyed to the workers through Myoontun Mamtoon.”
Yoo Jin, a design student who developed Trillogue, said, “Travel is the act closest to discovering a new world. Trillogue will be a service that helps users discover their tastes and deepen their self-understanding, enriching and diversifying their lives.”
