Establishing a Foundation for Expanding Cooperation on Smart Farms and Halal Food Exchange
Jeong Hwang-geun, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said on the 10th ahead of his visit to Malaysia and Indonesia, "We will further strengthen agricultural cooperation channels with the two countries and actively promote the excellence of K-Food to expand agricultural product exports."
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that Minister Jeong will visit Malaysia and Indonesia from the 11th to the 16th to concretize future-oriented agricultural cooperation plans with the two countries and undertake on-site activities to expand K-Food exports in Southeast Asia.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the Korea-Malaysia East Asia Policy and the 50th anniversary of Korea-Indonesia diplomatic relations this year, Minister Jeong plans to visit both countries to meet with ministers and key local business figures for discussions. He emphasized the need for exchange, stating, "Malaysia and Indonesia are important exporters of raw materials such as timber and palm oil, necessitating the establishment of a stable supply chain cooperation relationship. In Malaysia, Minister Jeong will meet with Mohamad Sabu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, to exchange the first-ever joint agricultural ministerial declaration between Korea and Malaysia, laying the foundation for expanding agricultural and food cooperation in areas such as food security, smart farms, and halal food exchange. He is also scheduled to conclude the first halal Korean beef export contract and sign a business agreement between Malaysia's largest Korean agricultural food distributor (KMT) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT).
