Individual investors are concentrating their buying power on ‘SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H)’. Over the past month, approximately 16.1 billion KRW has flowed into SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H), making it the top-ranked currency-hedged overseas stock ETF.
Kim Jeong-hyun, Head of the ETF Business Division at Shinhan Asset Management, said, “Considering it was listed in mid-March, I believe it has received overwhelming preference from currency-hedged ETF investors.” He added, “Since the average KRW/USD exchange rate has been around 1,140 won since 2010 and exchange rate movements are difficult to predict and forecast, investors seem to be focusing on SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H), which can minimize earnings volatility caused by exchange rate fluctuations.”
Listed on March 21, SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H) is a currency-hedged product with the same strategy as SOL US Dividend Dow Jones, which has become a steady seller among US dividend growth ETFs. Based on the underlying index, the Dow Jones US Dividend 100, it maintains a stable dividend yield in the mid-3% range regardless of market conditions, and has recorded an average annual dividend growth rate of 14% over the past five years.
Kim said, “The first quarter dividend yield of SOL US Dividend Dow Jones was 0.82%, the same as SCHD (Schwab US Dividend Equity ETF).” He explained, “SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H), which paid its first dividend on the 2nd, will also utilize distribution resources to the fullest extent to provide monthly dividends.”
Meanwhile, there are a total of 53 currency-hedged ETFs listed in the domestic ETF market, including equity, bond, and alternative types. Among the 22 equity ETFs, except for SOL US Dividend Dow Jones (H), most invest in representative indices of various countries.
