Damyang-gun, Hantavirus Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome Vaccination
Free Vaccination Support at Health Centers and Health Subcenters Until August
Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 9th that it will support free vaccinations until the end of August to prevent hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome among residents.
Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome is a disease caused by infection through the respiratory tract from dried excrement of field mice, leading to fever, bleeding tendencies, and renal failure.
Vaccination is necessary for those with frequent outdoor activities such as soldiers, agricultural workers, and beekeepers who work in fields and mountains, as they have a higher risk of infection.
The vaccination is administered only once in a lifetime, with two doses given one month apart, followed by an additional dose 12 months later. Therefore, those who completed the basic vaccination last year are eligible for the additional vaccination this year.
After vaccination, individuals should remain at the vaccination site for 15 to 30 minutes to monitor for any adverse reactions. On the day of vaccination, alcohol consumption, excessive exercise, and showering are prohibited, and rest for more than half a day is recommended.
