Yoon Nominates Park Min-sik, Director of Veterans Affairs, as First Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs
Passed Foreign Affairs and Judicial Examinations, Former Prosecutor and Two-Term National Assembly Member
President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 9th nominated Park Min-sik, the current Commissioner of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, as the first Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
Born in 1965 in Busan Metropolitan City, Park graduated from Busan National University High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Diplomacy. He passed both the Foreign Service Examination and the Bar Examination consecutively.
He passed the 22nd Foreign Service Examination in 1988 and began his public service career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1993, he passed the 35th Bar Examination and became a prosecutor in 1996.
Afterwards, he worked as a prosecutor in Seoul, Changwon, and Yeoju, and retired from the prosecutor's office in 2006 after serving in the Special 1st Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. In 2008, he entered politics and served as a member of the 18th and 19th National Assembly. During his time as a prosecutor, Park investigated the National Intelligence Service wiretapping incident under the Kim Dae-jung administration.

During the last presidential election, Park served as the head of strategic planning for Yoon Suk-yeol's presidential campaign headquarters, and with the launch of the Yoon administration, he was appointed Commissioner of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (ministerial level). Park's father, the late Park Soon-yu, was a lieutenant colonel in the army who died in the Vietnam War.
If Park passes the National Assembly confirmation hearing, he will become the first Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs. Earlier, in February, the National Assembly passed a revision to the Government Organization Act to elevate the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and on March 2, President Yoon held a public signing ceremony for the promulgation of the Government Organization Act, which included the elevation of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the establishment of the Overseas Koreans Office.
