Tester Cosmetics Inserted into Nostril and "Kkilkkil"... Japanese YouTuber's 'Mangaeng' in Myeongdong
Netizens "This is truly a terrible act" criticize
Content that provokes 'Hyeomhan' is also often produced
YouTubers who create content introducing Korean culture to Japanese people are causing controversy by displaying rude behavior, such as putting cosmetics into their nostrils.
On the 9th, a video titled "Verifying how much fun you can have spending 10,000 yen in Korea" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Tteokbokki Samurai,' run by a Korean and Japanese male duo. In this video, the two visited Myeongdong in Seoul and showed themselves enjoying street food and road shops.

They introduced things to enjoy in Myeongdong, which tourists have started visiting again after COVID-19. They experienced popular foods in Japan such as 10-won bread and chicken skewers, and shopped for clothing and cosmetics.
The problem arose when they visited a cosmetics specialty store. They joked around and inserted an eyebrow pencil, placed for testing, into their nostrils while saying, "Here, here."
Although they did not keep it in their nostrils for a long time, they continued testing by drawing on the back of their hands with the cosmetic they had put in their nostrils. After criticism from viewers, the problematic scene was edited out without an apology.
However, on platforms like TikTok, videos of them playfully performing unsanitary acts with the tester eyebrow pencil can still be found. One netizen who saw the video pointed out, "Tourists and customers might use the tester they put in their nose," adding, "This is truly disgusting."
The YouTube channel has produced content targeting Japanese people living in Korea, with titles such as "Asking how famous Shohei Ohtani is in Korea" and "Why Koreans don’t listen to K-pop idol music."
However, they have also created content that stirs anti-Korean sentiment, such as "Everything about the anti-Japanese education I received as a Korean" and "Revealing all because the anti-Japanese driver I met in Korea was too extreme," thereby inviting controversy.
