SafeCon is a portmanteau of Safety and Connect, meaning 'connecting fully to safety together.'
Through the SafeCon initiative, startups will receive ▲education ▲consulting ▲change management ▲equipment support from LG Chem and LG Electronics to improve their environments and work safely. LG Chem and LG Electronics selected manufacturing/production-based startups nationwide that requested environmental safety support through the LG Social Campus platform, which supports social economy companies in finance, space, and talent development.
A total of five companies were selected for environmental safety support: 'Netsupa,' a company recycling discarded fishing nets; 'Play31,' which creates eco-friendly toys and educational content; 'Eco Unniya,' an eco-friendly product retailer; 'Leman,' an IT asset disposal company specializing in electronic device recycling; and 'Green Bear,' which manufactures eco-friendly resins and containers. All are LG Social Fellow companies that have received financial and space support from LG Social Campus.
Starting in May, fellow companies will receive training from experts in LG Chem’s Petrochemical Business Division Environmental Safety Team and LG Electronics’ Safety and Environment Department, who have expertise in environmental safety regulations and technical support. These experts are veterans with certifications such as industrial safety engineers and doctoral degrees, providing practical training including environmental safety inspections.
Until August, on-site consulting and monitoring will be conducted for each fellow company. Immediate solutions will be provided on-site through one-point lessons in environment, health, and safety. Startups will also receive methodologies for self-management and monitoring to ensure sustainability after consulting, along with safety equipment worth approximately 1 million KRW per company.
