'12.3% MoM↓' Imported Cars Sold 20,910 Units in April
Cumulative 82,594 Units This Year... 2.6% Decrease Compared to Last Year
The Korea Imported Automobile Association announced that the number of new registrations of imported passenger cars in April was 20,910, down 12.3% from March (23,840 units). Compared to the same period last year, it decreased by 9.4%. The cumulative number up to April was 822,594 units, a 2.6% decrease compared to the same period last year (84,802 units).
The top brand in registrations for April was Mercedes-Benz with 6,176 units. BMW closely followed with 5,836 units. Volvo ranked third with 1,599 units. Porsche and Lexus took fourth and fifth places with 1,146 and 1,025 units respectively.
By fuel type, gasoline led with 9,632 units registered. This was followed by hybrid (6,852 units), electric (1,866 units), diesel (1,598 units), and plug-in hybrid (962 units).
The best-selling vehicle in April was the BMW 520 with 772 units sold. Next was the Mercedes-Benz E350 4MATIC with 659 units. The Lexus ES300h ranked third with 648 units.

Jung Yoon-young, Vice Chairman of the Korea Imported Automobile Association, explained, “New registrations of imported passenger cars in April decreased compared to the previous month due to supply shortages of some brands and high interest rates.”
