Geumcheon-gu, Aerial Survey of Illegal Buildings
Targeting 4,878 Buildings with Changes Based on Aerial Photo Analysis
On-site Inspections Until June, Enforcement Penalties Imposed if Violations Confirmed
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will conduct on-site inspections for 4,878 buildings identified through last year’s Seoul city aerial photo analysis to check for violations such as illegal extensions.
This investigation aims to prevent various safety accidents caused by unauthorized construction and to restore building order, thereby creating a pleasant urban environment.
The inspection targets buildings with changes identified in the 2022 aerial photo analysis. The district will visit these buildings on-site until June to investigate ownership, area, structure, usage, and whether permits or reports have been filed.
If violations are confirmed, the building owners will be notified in advance and ordered to voluntarily rectify the issues in two rounds. Failure to comply will result in ▲imposition of enforcement penalties ▲marking the building as violating on the building register ▲restrictions on various permits and approvals, among other disadvantages.
A district official stated, “There have been cases where individuals impersonating public officials demand money to overlook violations. Please be especially cautious and verify official identification if such incidents occur.”
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We ask residents to actively cooperate with the investigation to make Geumcheon-gu safe and clean,” and added, “We will continue to strive to eradicate illegal construction through accurate inspections and maintenance.”
Gwanak-gu Supports ‘Safety Equipment 3-Piece Set’ to Help Single-Person Households Live Safely
Expanded to Include Female Single-Person Households and Male Single-Person Households with Crime Victim Experience in Gwanak-gu
Providing ‘Smart Doorbell, Home CCTV, Window Locks’ Starting in May
Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Jun-hee) is promoting the ‘Safety Equipment Support Project for Single-Person Households’ to support safe living by preventing residential intrusion crimes targeting single-person households.
Last year, the district provided safety home sets (home CCTV, double locks on front doors) to 491 female single-person households. This year, the support targets female single-person households residing in homes with a jeonse equivalent value under 250 million KRW and registered in Gwanak-gu, as well as male single-person households who have experienced residential intrusion crimes.
Starting in May, the support items will be expanded to include a safety equipment 3-piece set consisting of ▲‘Smart Doorbell’ that allows real-time monitoring of the front door via mobile phone ▲‘Home CCTV’ with an app installed on the phone to detect external intrusion even when away ▲‘Window Locks’ that prevent windows from being fully opened.
Additionally, when installing the safety equipment, public officials or local female activists will visit together with the installation technician to thoroughly explain how to use the equipment. They will also promote various safety-related projects conducted by Gwanak-gu to encourage single-person households to participate in many programs and prevent crime victimization.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the application form on the Gwanak-gu website (News & Notices → News → Gwanak News) and sending it via email to the person in charge or by postal mail to the Women and Family Division of Gwanak-gu Office.
For more details, applicants can check the application guidelines on the Gwanak-gu website or contact the Women and Family Division.
Furthermore, the district supports voice recognition wireless emergency bells called ‘Safety Emergency Bells’ for stores operated solely by women, and provides ‘Smart Doorbells, Home CCTV, and Voice Recognition Emergency Bells’ to stalking crime victims, continuing various safety equipment support projects for residents’ safety.
