Eurozone Unemployment Rate at 6.5% in March... Down 0.1 Percentage Points
Spain and Greece Unemployment Rates Remain High at 10% Range
The European Union (EU) statistical office, Eurostat, announced on the 3rd that the unemployment rate in the Eurozone fell by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month to 6.5% in March. This is below the market forecast of 6.6%.
By country, Spain (12.8%) and Greece (10.9%) had high unemployment rates. The lowest unemployment rate was in the Czech Republic (2.6%).
The Eurozone refers to the countries that use the euro as their sole currency among the 27 EU member states. With Croatia starting to use the euro in January, the number of Eurozone countries increased to 20. This unemployment rate statistic covers 19 countries, excluding Croatia.
