Out of a total of 45 agencies, 39 have completed their announcement and application process. Of the 2,061 recruitment plans for this year, 1,902 are scheduled to be hired in the first half of the year. The government plans to significantly expand the scale of youth interns in central administrative agencies next year and newly establish a 2-3 month short-term program for university students.

They are also considering expanding the youth intern system to local governments. For public institution youth interns, 21,000 will be hired this year, an increase of 2,000 from last year. The hiring period will be extended from the existing 3 months to 6 months.

Regarding overseas interns, the dispatch target countries are being diversified. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) plan to create a virtuous cycle structure where overseas intern programs lead to job creation.
