‘Boseong World Tea Expo’ Gyeongsan Mayor, Hadong County Governor Benchmarking
Impact of the Tea Industry on Regional Development and the Historical Significance of Boseong Tea
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that Cho Hyun-il, Mayor of Gyeongsan, and Ha Seung-cheol, Mayor of Hadong-gun, visited Boseong to benchmark the ‘2023 Boseong World Tea Expo’.
Mayor Cho Hyun-il of Gyeongsan visited Boseong-gun with 22 officials, including the head of the Culture and Tourism Division and the festival promotion committee chairman, to find answers on the synergy effect of the integrated festival ahead of the ‘Gyeongsan Jinan Dano Festival’.

Boseong-gun introduced the tea culture experience halls of six major tea countries (Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Vietnam), the tea therapy hall, the tea-making experience hall, and the East Asian 2000-year artifact exhibition hall.
They also visited Daehan Tea Garden and the tea leaf picking experience site, which attract tourists year-round, explaining the impact of the tea industry on regional development and the historical significance of Boseong tea.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Thank you for coming from afar to visit the ‘2023 Boseong World Tea Expo’ and for inviting us to the ‘Gyeongsan Jinan Dano Festival’ and the ‘2023 Hadong World Tea Expo.’ We will continue to hold improved festivals every year by mutually exchanging and reflecting excellent cases during other local governments’ festivals.”
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun is hosting the Boseong World Tea Expo under the theme ‘Millennium Boseong Tea, Embracing the World!’ until May 7. The event includes Boseong’s representative festivals such as the Boseong Dahyang Grand Festival and the Fireworks Festival, along with various programs.
