Gwangju Seo-gu Selects Team Leader Kim Dae-jin as MVP Public Official for March-April

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 2nd that it has selected Kim Dae-jin, the head of the village autonomy team in Chipyeong-dong, as the ‘MVP Public Official for March-April’ for his proactive administration efforts to enable residents from various social groups to participate in village autonomy activities.

Team Leader Kim created the BI called ‘Green Wave, Gamtan Village,’ reflecting the characteristics and identity of Chipyeong-dong, which leads in the field of resource circulation, and worked hard on public-private cooperation with about ten child and youth-related village communities to achieve the village vision.

On February 18, he held a proclamation ceremony presenting a future vision at the village level for the first time among 18 neighborhoods, increasing residents’ participation and interest, and expanded the existing village BI to mean ‘a village where the Earth and people are amazed, and the village itself is amazed.’

Team Leader Kim actively worked to create a sustainable village where various residents and organizations can participate in village activities.

He formed various parent clubs to help children and parents build bonds, targeting parents in the district who had no prior interaction.

In particular, he carried out proactive administration by persuading private institutions to secure budgets necessary for club activities, and plans to hold village events such as a club federation performance sharing meeting and a family sports day in the second half of the year.

Team Leader Kim also took the lead in providing momentum for residents to carry out village projects.

Through continuous meetings with representatives of small-scale village communities and village activists, he built consensus and discussed various public contest projects. As a result, 19 projects were selected, securing 82 million KRW in project funds.

He also made efforts to create various environments to improve the quality of administrative services and provide courteous civil complaint responses.

He improved the inconvenience of the waiting number display not being visible to complainants by making it visible on a TV screen, and created a pleasant working environment by installing roll screens at the civil complaint counters to separate the waiting area for complainants during lunch hours from the workspaces.

The MVP Public Official Selection Committee stated the reason for selection was, “He performed his duties diligently with a proactive and sincere attitude, and especially his efforts to lead residents’ participation and communication were highly evaluated.”

At the MVP public official award ceremony, Seo-gu Mayor Kim I-gang said, “There are many projects being promoted at the community center, including those linked to the village BI, and Team Leader Kim Dae-jin is actively contributing to the realization of Chipyeong Gamtan Village with swift execution and innovative ideas.”

Team Leader Kim said, “I am happy and honored to receive such a great award, and I am growing together while working and thinking intensely with the staff,” adding, “I will continue to work with residents with warm-hearted and sincere administration.”

Meanwhile, Seo-gu introduced the MVP public official system in December last year to invigorate the organization and create a working atmosphere by giving preferential treatment to public officials who faithfully carry out major district issues and priority projects.

Seo-gu selects individual MVPs every two months, providing incentives such as prize money and advanced site visits, and selects one ‘MVP of the Year’ from six previously selected individuals every December for an award. Additionally, MVP teams will also be selected and awarded in June and December.
